To be fair the Brabham is about 6-7 tenths slower here than the Ferrari, judging WR's and my own PB's. Also the field is getting stronger and stronger, especially in the subtop and midfield.

On a sidenote Miguel (Palud) now does have a better PB here than me in the BT24, there's always room at the top amigo! Keep at it and work on your race consistency ;)
It is true what you say I have to improve in consistency, I train a lot to achieve it, this is step by step, exactly one year ago I started running GPL and it is a learning that never ends, thank you for your praise and your advice

The biggest praise is to be an inspiration and/or motivation for others. But I'm just human with all my flaws ;)

You just need a bit of more races and experience Miguel. And a bit of good luck. It will come, rather sooner than later. I'm always available to share replays and setups, to anyone. :)

Thanks, Robert, I didn't think to compare times like that.

Let's see ...
  • My Brabham time is 4/10s slower than my Ferrari time set 4 years ago.
  • It should be 6 or 7/10s slower. So in 4 years I improved as a driver by, let's say, 3/10s.
  • At this rate of improvement, I will be alien (for the sake of argument, let's call "alien" -88 or better) when I reach age 492.
It's good to set goals high. :P

its all relative no?
when i was +, anyone at (-) was impressive...
but when i finally got to (-) those at -20 were 'alien'  .. those that were -50 or better? well they were off the ability for me to even grasp "how"
now people at -50 are saying those in the -80 and better are the aliens...  but ~ maybe we need a new term :)

to me what so many of you are able to do is ALIEN :)

I thought I'd be racing for 3rd here and as it turns out, I was with Yannick. Miguel was in a good position behind me, until he went off early on, and it had been close between the three of us in qualifying. Without his mistake, Miguel would have been in a very strong position as this race wore on.

Looking back, I could have tried to block the inside on lap 1, but Yannick would have been all over me, on cold tyres, for the first few laps if I had tried to, and I had had a wide exit, so would have had to chop across the track.

As the race wore on, I had a pace advantage, but passing is another ball game. I got a few runs and got close once, going side by side through the T2 kink and into T3, but Yannick was braver on the brakes as he said. Perhaps he could have passed me anyway on L1, around the outside in a similar manoeuvre? Tough on cold tyres!

After my off, which was through a lack of concentration (trying to think how to pass and putting a tyre wide into the T5 turn in), I could let my pace free to try and catch up again. Miele caught a tyre on the grass before T7, and once I caught Yannick again (after his mistake), it became clear this battle would be for the win, after Roy, Rob, Michiel and Marcos got caught up in a mass disco.

All I could do this time was apply the pressure as hard as I could; I knew Yannick could win without it (e.g. Kyalami in EOLC) - and I got lucky that he had a slight bobble with a few laps to go. Reminiscent of Kimi and Michael at Magny Cours in 2002! Don't worry Yannick - there will be more chances to win for you, no doubt.

Glad to win here, in some ways vanquishing my mistake from last time we ran here, when I was in front of Paolo, before literally taking my hand off the wheel and losing the win. Rob's time in Q was just mind blowing - next time we race here no doubt Rob and Roy can resume their battle where it left off :).

Do you think it's insulting to a G1 member of our league to tell him that he's basically equivalent to a guy who drives his Chevy to church on Sunday morning? Maybe compared to Robert or Roy he is, but I can think of a difference that's even greater than that: Ask your brother-in-law to sit down at your wheel and pedals and see how many days or weeks it will take him before he can do a lap of the Ring in under ten minutes. All of our guys can do it. So how's your brother-in-law looking now, huh? Like a Sunday driver?  :)

I'm with Pepe on this one G1 through infinity works fine for what it's supposed to do. Doesn't stop us from having some fun in here with it, but for someone coming across the league for the first it may indicate that we dont take the racing as seriously as we are. Call it Weekend Racer if you want to but I'm fine with just calling it G#
I just wanna race

It was all in good fun but maybe, just maybe it would attract the wrong kind of driver that; reading that description would think the league does not take itself seriously,
