OK Andreh, CA...    Please update the top of this thread to be up-to-date and accurate.  Tracks, patches, setups etc etc.  I'm trying to get you guys some rFactor business in the "normal "MRC area.

I know someone was saying last night that they were having FPS issues with the Dijon track. Here is a post on things to do to get better FPS. It's 5 pages long of tips and growing.

Hey, CA, I tried the FF settings you recommended.  It feels WAY better to not have a centering spring, and all the other stuff that got changed.  It feels more like a real wheel would behave, especially when the front loses grip.  Thanks a bunch for the tip.

  Glad to hear that Garry ! I was quite shocked at the difference the lack of centering spring made as well. Your right , it feels proper now .

Glad you tried it man  ;)

Turning in-car chat window off.

It was bugging me so I asked over at RSC...

In the multiplayer.ini for your player...

Allow Chat In Car="0" // 0=Off 1= On Whether to allow incoming chats to appear while in car

There is this as a compromise as well...still allowing chat but no join messages.

Leave/Join Messages="2" // 0=none 1=in-car 2=monitor 3=both

You mean turn off 'Message Center'?  Tried it, didn't work.  It turned off messages to me (ie-autoclutch=off or whatever) but it still allowed the chat pop up.

Several tips and FAQs

Jon Anderson, what I think it might have happened at the last race is that you hadnt unlocked all cars and only had the willians available.
You must notice that there are 2 79 mods available. The historical that we use, and the unrestricted, The difference is that in the unrestricted you can choose any model of each chassis make, and in the historical, when using GPC or tweaked tracks you will use the historically related car configuration.
For each mod you have to unlock all cars.
The way to do it is open a track day, go in the chat line and type ISI_BABYFACTORY
Then leave the server. You will notice the sound of millions of coins getting into your bank account  :beerchug: and you will be able to pick any car. Notice that rF has a flaw , where you need to pick the right skin for the model you will be using.

big performance boost

wow thats a whole lot of info on RSC
didn't read it all yet -  but - i installed fsautostart -
still have to do Extensible Performance Counter List (exctrlst.exe):
(do u guys really see a big difference?)
why can't a computer just do what i need it to do??? all those processes, services, tasks, progs, counters....  grrrrr!!!!!!!

and i'm now going into page file
only problem is my c: is NTFS - all the other partitions are FAT
yes i clearly am a fuckup in system performance!!!
should be using static(?) page file and not on the windows partition (c:)
i have xp 1gig ram
what is the best? FAT or NTFS  ?
lets start with that question :noob:

Real quick here, cause I gotta run, but I don't think that fsautostart works with rfactor anymore, it did for awhile, but when the patches starting coming out, it wasn't working for me.

FWIW..

it works for me, see the dos window stopping the processes i chose and defragging ram
i don't see the performance drop anymore i used to have when i set grafhics higher like texture, anisotropic, dx9
still race dx8, trilinear though to get 60-90fps

fsautostart is fine as far as i am concerned

but i had network problems screwing around with services and performance counters
i can't tell wich ones exactly (i disabled all of the ones mentioned by jethro on rsc link above)
but i do know, that i had an ip, but zero connection for 4days
called the provider (telenet) and they said it was a general problem they would fix soon
once it was up and running again i don't dare to screw around again
coincidence?
