Tames Oud has joined us!
Tames is of the Netherlands and tho his lap times at Rouen were similar to mine, he admits he's currently driving the original tracks.

i'll start him in D2/g2 and we'll revisit his progress after 4 races.

please join me in welcoming him ~

Don't think so, Robert.  I believe that I saw some of his out-worldly relatives on some Dr. Who episodes.

;)

I saw Tames' name on the oAo practice server(yesterday?)and wondered if the club had snagged another GPL gearhead.  Seems so!

Welcome, Tames!

tnx for the nice welcome guys, hope to have some great races with you.
Although it appears I'm off for a bad start, my workschedule changed for coming saturday. If it stays like this, I won't be able to participate in Rouen :-((
Silverstone looks good though.

One newbie question off topic: Is it me or is almost nobody practicing on the sever?

No it's not you, not many really use the practice server much.

it will get busier closer to race day.

Maybe we could arrange some "official" training days/times and people can try and make it.. it's good fun, makes for good race-practice and you get to feel out the competition..
Coming from one who just practices offline because I've never seen anybody in there..

I couldn't agree more Peter. I lack in competition experience and this would certainly help. I will make it a habit to practice on-line as much as possible from now on, maybe I will run into some of you in the near future.

any one is welcome to organize a time/day for practice sessions....  if some one wants to be in charge, let me know :)

one other element of practicing offline, compared to online is as i've read, you get different fuel consumption rates :o
i don't know if that is true or not, but i always practice online ;)

No different fuel consumption at offline training here. I get the same values as online. Ony discrepancies are found in fuel amount, and my driving. Most of the time I would use slightly less in the race than calculated, but there are also factors like traffic and pacing yourself maybe a times...also most of the times setting up the car offline, before taking it online.

Might be a good idea for a fixed practise session throughout the week. Some only race in this league, and some are very busy racing a lot and even organizing. Personally mostly go online at the nights before the race, often encounter the same dedicated guys like Roy and Col who put in much mileage...from the D2 guys often see Bob Higdon and Bob Holada putting in much mileage...

Also within the team it was asked if we could have a fixed time/session, but it proved before to be very hard to find a time that suits everyone. But like the race, when you schedule a session, it might attract more drivers, knowing a few more will be online ;)

But not as a result of running online. Its a result of running with other drivers. You get a draft of them or have to take a more conservative approach, leading to slightly different fuel figures. From my own experience race consumption is usually a bit lower than the predicted one. Mostly because I usually don't run full race stints and tend to take it easy towards the end of the race when there is more lost than gained from pushing. This trend holds true for all but 2 races I've done, one at Grenzlandring where I had to coast the last half lap and the one last week. The later was due to me writing down the wrong numbers during practice.
I just wanna race
