Great stuff, David! I'll probably have too much lag, though.

First gushing impressions of my new graphic card.

Gainward GTX 275 896MB

Latest mid range ($200) nVidia card.

The card is a fantastic upgrade to the Asus 9800 GTX that it has replaced.

My first test drive:
Race07/GTRevo.
1920x1200 32bit
AA level 6
All in game graphic options on full.
Automatic downgrading of graphics set to OFF

Full grid of 24 cars at Nordschleife and Valencia
Fps measured by Fraps.
60-70 at start - back of full grid
60-90 in traffic 4-6 cars close in front
70-115 with 1-2 cars in front
lowest 55 fps.

This represents fantastic performance at a great price.
Another big plus it is much quieter than the 9800! Wow someone turned off the vacuum cleaner.

As I say first impressions just installed it, but this seems to be a great bang for the buck card.

Btw the card is a slightly "detuned" 285 but almost equals it on most tests I have seen. It is an answer to ATI's HD 4890.
The 275 and 4890 seem very closely matched. Google "285 vs hd 4890" and you will find a number of test reviews.
One thing to bear in mind the 4890 is an "overclocked" 4870 while the 275 is a downgraded 285.
The 4890 is reported to be much louder than the 275. This would seem to be partly a louder fan and partly because it is set to run at a cooler temperature and therefore requires more cooling from the fan. Whatever the reason I know what I prefer - less noise.

I might have to try non-sli......maybe that's the cause of all my recent freeze / ctd.

Finally received all the components I ordered September 17th to build my system. After completing the build and installing the OS and GPL, I started testing. Didn't take long to find out the onboard sound was total crap for GPL. So after trying a couple of older sound cards I had and discovering they weren't much better, I had to wait until I had a chance to pickup a X-Fi XtremeGamer. I purchased the X-Fi Friday the 25th and got home just in time to install and test it before the Average race. I am extremely happy with the performance, and eventually will get some of the other Racing Sims installed.

Looks pretty "Killer" Tom. Ready to try GTRe? ;) That rig should handle pretty much anything you throw at it that's current;y available.

I just built a new computer, so far its working very well. Here are the specs.

Intel Core I-7 3770K 3.5 GHz
ASUS Sabertooth Z77 Motherboard
16GB Corsair Vengence ram (2X8GB)
Cooler Master HAF 922 case
Corsair AX850 power supply
OCZ Vertex 3 240GB solid state drive
Western Digital Black 1TB drive
MSI GeForce GTX 670
LG BD-Rom/ DVD rewriter
Three ASUS VS248 24" LED monitors
of course my trusty G27 and Actlabs shifter

Three monitors are amazing in GPL!
If I did it right there should be a picture of Jim Carvalho passing me at Enna...a thing I have seen many times.

Great system, way cool setup, thanks for posting. Fantastic view of the action, now you'll be able to see big brother better when he is trying to put a block pass on you, and avoid it.
How much better is the Act Labs shifter than the G27 shifter? Just curious, in case my shifter starts acting up, once you get used to shifting with an H pattern shifter, it's unthinkable to go back to buttons.

Now I can show this to my wife and tell her I need a setup like this, as it would make my gaming experience so much more enjoyable.

It's not fair, Tim got to get all this, why can't I?

Think I'll have to do a lot of kissing up to maybe get a few new items.

Update!
Showed the wife, she said why don't you build a setup like that, so maybe in a few months when I get a few bills took care of I can.

I think the Act labs shifter is much better than the stock G27. It has longer throws and is gated, so its tough to miss a shift (I manage though). Also, you don't have to do the goofy push down for reverse gear.

It was a great price too...FREE!! My brother bought it for me! Thanks bro!

You could try kissing up to him TJ....maybe not :yuk:  Be like kissing up to an oversize gorilla, I don't know how his wife does it! :winkiss:

Alright Tom!! You will love the triple monitors!

If I had a wife, I would want her to be as understanding as yours!

Wow. I don't know which is more astounding: Tim's computer, Tom's wife, or Tim's delusion that I've ever passed him. :Eyecrazy:  Very nice setup, Tim. Looks like you did your homework, and got some great gear. No wonder you're quick on track! ;) Thanks for showing us.

That's a real great system you have.  I'm also using three monitors and it really is amazing, you have so much better peripheral vision.

The only drawback in GPL is that it's very hard for me to see chat messages while I'm driving because they appear far left on the left monitor. I have the side monitors angled at 55 degrees to give a more wrapped around feeling and the only way I can see chat messages is if I physically turn my head to the left and look there. Would be cool if you could adjust where chat messages appear on the screen so you could have them in the center monitor but I don't know if that is possible.
