From Facebook:

Briley K. Ritchason, age 77, of Columbus, passed away on Thursday January 7, 2021.  He was born in Carbon Hill, Ohio and graduated from South High School.  He was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed watching OSU football and basketball, auto racing, and spending time with his family. Briley retired from RoadMaster Driving Schools as a driver trainer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Grace Ritchason; brothers James Ritchason and Robert Ritchason; sisters Kathy Hanson and Kelly McCoy,  Survivors include sister Connie Roberts, son Briley Ritchason; daughter Dawn (Michael) Ferrell; grandchildren Gerry, Brittany, Mason, Caleb  and great grandchildren Aubree and Ayden.

A memorial will be held at Creekside Church on Saturday January 16, 2021. Visitation with the family will take place from 4-5pm, and the service will begin at 5pm with Pastor Tom Walker officiating.

Creekside Church will not be able to receive flowers. In place of flowers, donations can be made to The Pelotonia Cancer Fundraiser. Please visit www.Pelotonia.org/BrileyRitchason

to make a donation. Donations will also be accepted at the service.

After not having had contact with him for a couple years, I wrote him an e-mail on December 26th just to touch base. Now I know why he didn't answer.

I've missed him in oAo. He ultimately had to quit due to physical decline -- and that hurt him deeply. For the few seasons he drove with us, he was a hell of a driver. He was also a great guy and a great team mate.

Raise a glass, guys.

I joined this league very late and recently, but one of the first things which I saw and will never forget was Briley's quote on the front page of our league site... A beautiful quote really, symbolizing how much he must have enjoyed racing with us as a community and what personal pleasure it must have given to him.

I hope you are in a better place now, Briley...
Rest in peace.

Thanks for sharing Michael. Briley was awesome, especially at ovals. I remember  some years ago he said something about getting older and physical problems, but stating: the lights are still on!

Rest in peace Briley...

Sad to hear this news. I'm glad to have raced with Briley, racing at the front of the D1 field in ovals in his 70s. Very much from the Ken Smith, Morgan Shepherd type of racers!

So sorry to hear this, I will always remember Briley as a real gentleman both on track and the forum.

RIP Briley, condolences to his family and friends.

I started out with nothing and still have most of it left.
