GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Average Drivers Club was created as an alternative to random online
pick-up races. The ADC is designed to bring a little more structure and
consistency to our member's on-line racing experience. All racers are
expected to drive in a gentlemanly, courteous manner; not a
win-at-all-costs mentality. All racers are expected to have at least some
online racing experience. You don't have to be fast, but you have to be
aware of your surroundings and fellow competitors at all times. All races
are run from a password-protected server.

Don't be mislead by the term AVERAGE. All skill levels are welcome in the
ADC, so everyone has someone to race with.

Slower drivers should not feel intimidated. Everyone makes mistakes; so
don't feel too bad if you're involved in an incident. Just try to be
careful. A good rule of thumb is to drive as if you were actually in the
car, and an accident could cost you your life. Although specific to Grand
Prix Legends, the theories expressed in the following "Recommended Driving
Behavior" can be applied to any sim, including GTR, and is considered to
be required reading in the ADC:

http://homepage.powe..._driver_beh.htm

The ADC is a club, not a league. There are no championship standings but
we will post race results in the forums so everyone can have bragging
rights at some point or another. The primary emphasis is on having fun.
And we have an "open" format; since we don't keep standings, there is no
penalty for not showing up. It's strictly show up if you can.

TIME ZONES:

With the worldwide membership of the ADC, it's sometimes hard to keep
track of the different time zones. If you have any questions about times
and time zones, I'd recommend you go to http://www.timezoneconverter.com

RULES:

As for rules, we don't have many in the ADC, but we do have a few; mostly
related to clean, courteous driving:

1) Please finish all races you start; NO DISCOS'S! No one likes to be the
only car to cross the finish line. Of course, a computer or connection
problem cannot be helped.

2) Keep the start clean. The worst accident is the first turn pile up. Due to some problems with the GTR start we use the following starting policy:
Standing start with one slow lap where the pole position driver gives the pace
During this slow lap we try to establish a single file formation.

3) Respect the car in front of you. If you are unsure of the pass don't go
for it.

4) No Blocking. You can make one move to defend your position, after that
you're blocking.

5) You must have fun racing. No one likes a grumpy driver on the track.

TRACKS:

At the moment we are running the original tracks.
We will eventually integrate other tracks. If other tracks will be used we will advise them here.

RACE FORMAT:

No aids expect:

auto gears
no forcing cockpit view
clutch

damage 100%
Season scheduling:
One open training season for 15-20 minutes so that all can join.
One qualifying around 30 minutes.
Race length: 45-60 minutes
1 Mandatory Pit Stop

CARS:
We will eventually integrate other cars. If other cars will be used we will advise them here:
101 Gulf Lamborghini
154 Harrison Lamborghini
63 Team Chevrolet 2001
More info here: Andi's ADC GTR Add-On Cars Tracking Page

MEETING:

Meeting place: VROC or any IRC client (for IRC Clients
server=irc.shadowworld.net port=6667)
in a chatroom called ADC. This is mainly because it's very hard to meet in
the lobby of GTR.

FORUMS & CALENDAR:

Our forums and calendar are at www.speedgeezers.com. For the calendar,
there is a link from any of the main Forum pages (just look for "view
calendar").

RACE PROCEDURE

Server started at 19:00 GMT (please be careful because GMT knows no daylight saving)
Meet in Chat room for any last minute information.
Practice starts at 19:30.
Skip Quali 1 – late arrivals can’t join.
Quali 2 starts at 20:00.
Warmup starts at 20:15 – time to ensure race setup is in place, tyres fuel etc.
Race starts at 20:20 – When RACE appears in top right corner select Race in bottom right corner to go to grid, you have 30 seconds in which to do this.

If you miss the 30 seconds you’ll be put in the pit lane, DO NOT move until the pit lane light goes green, otherwise you will be disqualified.

Treat your virtual car as if you had to pay for any damage.
Race will be 45 or 60 minutes with one mandatory pit stop.
Formation lap controlled by pole sitter constant speed, no weaving, no brake test.
Pole sitter to start parade lap at green light.
Race starts when you next cross the line.
Keep in-race chat to a minimum, apologies and thanks only.
Try to stay connected if your car is disabled.
Continue after crossing the finish line for a while to ensure replay is saved correctly.
Wait for race to complete before starting the congratulations.

If you have more questions please contact me or David Fletcher.

As this is an additional service to GPL we inform you that every driver can join GPL races and GTR races and vice versa.

Those ingame chat is important Chris but it's something I would not like to set in stone. We had it in GPL when someone has problems.
Hmm. About the damage. Not sure what to prefer as this sim don't allow shift-r like GPL. For the average drivers it's very handy in GPL.

Can we have a statement about chatting during the race? Don't chat unless it is actually needed.

This one it quite important, because it destabilizes the server, if one leaves early by disconnecting from a running race.

Personally, I think a slightly lower damage setting would be more appropriate, because it eventually increases the number of finishs. Let's set it to e.g. 70%

This is very useful.

I think the race chat should be limited to the niceties such as "Sorry" and "that's OK". It is certainly distracting getting longer messages.

Didn't we agree auto gears and no forcing cockpit view as requested recently.

Andi.

@Greg, if you read this does it answer your questions?

Can't seem to find a server IP. Do yall keep a server up when you're not doing a race?

I'd love a good place to race even though i can't make the time difference for the actual races on weekdays.

Posted Image If you look closely at the pdf document I sent, the IP's are in there.

The race server is not up until about 30 mins before the practice time. My server is up nearly 24/7. Usually it has the same password but, for this week only it's changed for our American friends. I'll PM it.

Cheers.

Hi fellas. As I finish typing I'll try to hook up with you ADCs. Now, I'll try to find an ADC room in the lobby. Should I expect the password to be provided there? I take you change pwd as you launch rooms? Well, if someone reads this please advise.

I have bought GTR and am thinking of joining the races. I would appreciate if there was a getting started doc and FAQ that was updated.

I should add that I have downloaded the GTR manager and car.zip files from Andi's site.
