there are 25 classes during the runoffs . Some are openwheels . Here is a F500 car . They must use a twin Rotax 500cc 2 cycles motor .  Note the beautiful paintsheme ( as usual in USA even in amateur level ) .

That Vette is a pretty serious race car. Nothing factory stock on that surface plate built race car.

Yes Eric , and that's why I wanted to see the runoffs . Those cars are crazy beast . More than 800 HP in a tubular frame !!!
And a very smart regulation to avoid rising costs : No carbon brakes , no sequential gearbox ( you can but you get a 50Kg penalty weight ) , no shock absorbers piloted by electronic .
Best lap time was 2mn05 ( compare with a yellow corvette le mans series in 2mn01 but full of electronics ).

In the second half of this video you can see the entire GT-1 field entering the track  ( play it very loud )  :bigglasses:

It's basically a NASCAR in Corvette form.

Love the Sunbeam Tiger. Our neighbors when I was a 10 in 1978 had a Sunbeam Tiger.

A neighbor down the street at the same time in the late 70s restored cars. Austin Healys, Triumph TR3s, and.... he had a Bizzarrini sitting there on the side yard! I sat in it tho it had no seats. He had those elsewhere. It had had an engine fire and the aluminum hood had melted. He had a new one crafted. He showed me the original drawings for the hood, then unwarpped the new hood which was wrapped in news paper. He knew I loved cars, built car models, and drew cars in a blueprint fashion. Not sure what happened with the car. I do know there is one in the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles and it is in the "priceless room" along with many other incredible cars.... I might have a pic!....I will look!

I do have a pic! It's a cabriolet tho. The Bizzarinni that the neighbor had was a coupe. I will post another pic from the same room showing other cars in the room. There is a silver first gen, undoubtedly special in some way, McLaren F1 out of the camera's view in the room as well.

GT-1 qualification from the pedestrian bridge , the Mazda in 2nd position was a bit outpaced with his little twin rotor engine .
