A short video of my near accident at the US Vintage GP at Watkins Glen yesterday.  Would have been a big wreck as we were going 120+ when I got lapped by the chasing group lead by a 427 Cobra.  I was really lucky !

The vette #33 is being driven by Mike Donohue.

Nice one Burt! Didn't know you were racing for real! Not the best spot to lap in the inner loop :P

Great job :)

Was a stupid move by me.  I should have stayed inside exiting the esses and let the lappers pass me on the normal racing line.

You can get away with that in GPL but it can be very, very costly when its for real..

I could hear something coming up behind you and I was wondering why you were fading to the left. I expected to see whatever it was that had caught you go by on the right (since you were fading left). A micro second later "near miss" all made sense.

Grats Burt!!!

Luckily your Ford didn't need the whole track -and beyond- to make it through the fast Esses...
IMO the other driver must have been thinking "NO MAN, I'm NO François!!!"

Not stupid at all Burt, you also race the cars in front. The car that lapped out of the Esses took a big risk passing you left and then waving and going 3 wide towards the inner loop.

It reminds me a bit on how I lapped both John and you at Syracuse :P

PS: fantastic muscle car

Car looks brilliant Burt, in other circumstances my daily driver might have been a similar era MGB Roadster.

The Glen must be amazing to drive IRL, it was daunting enough on just iRacing in faster cars.

The agility of those front guys.. in cars at such speed! Worst nightmare situation.

Mike is Mark Donohues son.  Mike is a very strong driver.

SVRA races get some good pro drivers.   Geoff Brabham was driving a BT-35.  In my class (BP)  Lyn St.  James was driving a Jag.  She qualified 1 sec faster than me and finished 8th.  I finished 10th.

Way Kool, Burt!  :)

For historic racing, the leading chaps coming through seem rather stoked.
