I suspect this agreement is really just to air features produced by Sky. The announcer and commentary for the race will still be the ESPN people.

I'm watching the first practice session on ESPN3  on my computer.  It's the Sky TV feed with Paul DeResta and someone I don't know.  Much better then any F1 broadcast I've ever seen on American TV.
Great camera angles, shots of the cars, cameras showing the brakes and suspension.  So far it's great.

Now they need to put a camera on the "Halo".  The "Halo" blocks too much of the camera angle now.

well... race 1 in the books and i'm good with the SKY broadcast.. however, as any of us that were limited to watch thru the ESPN feed.... it was horrid.
side by side action with numerous commercials, i understand, but many radio transmissions, and the in race chat with Christian Danner was lost - no recap when the race coverage resumed.
of course not ~ i think ESPN has an automated programmed coverage of the race. no post race interviews, barely getting in the podium celebrations.
in  a word, disappointing.

that is HUGE news... for USA when 'commercial interruptions' are about normal for any broadcast.
side note, i have some Indy 500 races that i recorded from late 80's to mid 90s' and was shocked to see only about 30sec of commercials, and then 20 minutes of racing.. now, we have maybe 10minutes of race and 4 or 5 min of commercials :yuk:
